  Through large number of collaborative projects, CIB has been actively promoting its international cooperation and exchange in all respects for enhancing the Knowledge Innovation Programme of the CAS. CIB has collaborated with many international organizations in a wide range of fields and established long-term partnerships with many world-famous research institutes or enterprises from the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Russia and Japan.

CIB has participated in many international programmes, e.g., GLORIA (Global Observation Research Initiative in Alpine Environments, an EU-ponsored program contributing to the GTOS), and co-built a Sino-Finnish Open Laboratory for Restoration and Rehabilitation of Degraded Ecosystems with the University of Helsinki. It also maintains a long-term and stable relationship for strategic cooperation with MMD of U.S.A. the Drugs Research Institute of Toray Industries, POLA of Japan and HMR of Germany. Furthermore, CIB successfully hosted many international scientific conferences and symposiums, such as the Fourth Asiatic Herpetological Conference.
