Education and Appointments: Bin Wang, Doctor, Junior Researcher / PhD Supervisor. Graduated in 2011 with a PhD in Zoology from the Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since 2011, engaged in research at the Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Also serving as a council member of the Sichuan Society of Zoology (2020-), Amphibian and Reptile Branch of the Zoological Society of China (2021-), Sichuan Society of Cell Biology (2024-); editorial board member of Asian Herpetological Research (2022-), ZooKeys (2022-), Animals (2023), among others. Research focuses on amphibian systematics and adaptive evolution, with emphasis on amphibian diversity and conservation. Principal investigator for 17 projects, published over 50 academic papers in journals such as The ISME Journal, Science of the Total Environment, PeerJ, ZooKeys, and Genes. Selected as “Class A Young Scholar of the Chinese Academy of Sciences” (2021), and appointed as “Young Researcher” at the Chengdu Institute of Biology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (2024). Research Interest (1) Amphibian Systematics: Identification and classification of amphibian species, involved in the compilation of works such as the “Red List of Chinese Biodiversity” and “Catalogue of Chinese Species.”
(2) Amphibian Diversity Evolution and Adaptation Mechanisms: Investigating the species diversity and evolution of the genus Paramesotriton, elucidating how their evolution is influenced by the uplift of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau; studying the cave species, the red-spotted toothed toad (Oreolalax rhodostigmatus), to reveal its adaptation mechanisms to both cave and outside environments using omics techniques and experiments. (3) Conservation of Amphibian and Reptile Diversity: Focusing on monitoring and conservation efforts of amphibians and reptiles based on established monitoring systems. Evaluating the impact of major strategic construction projects on amphibians and reptiles, and developing conservation techniques for key species. Public Services Council member of the Sichuan Society of Zoology, Amphibian and Reptile Branch of the Zoological Society of China, and Sichuan Society of Cell Biology; Editorial board member of Asian Herpetological Research, ZooKeys, and Animals.
