The Chengdu Institute of Biology (CIB) , Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) is pleased to announce the launch of the International Visiting Student Program. The program welcomes outstanding young researcher worldwide to strengthen academic exchanges, foster long-term networks for scientific research and innovation, as well as expand the scope of international cooperation and improve the quality of academic exchanges.

Eligibility
Any outstanding foreign Current Graduate Student from the world-class universities and leading research institutions are welcome to conduct 1-6 month academic visits or collaborative research at our institute.
Funding
Monthly Allowance: RMB 10,000 per student, covering accommodation, domestic transportation, and living expenses during the visit in China.
Transportation Subsidy: RMB 10,000 per student.
Administration
According to the administration requirements, all parties or individuals involved in the program shall perform clear division of responsibilities during the visit, as follows:
l Institute Responsibilities: Overall organization, recommendation, supervision, and personnel management.
l Cooperative Supervisor Responsibilities: Implementation and coordination of research activities during visit.
l Student Responsibilities: Submit a summary report within 30 days after the visit.
During your visits in China, you shall comply with relevant Chinese laws and regulations of the CAS, including but not limited to:
l Responsible research practices;
l Ethical guidelines for research involving humans, animals, or animal care (where applicable);
l All other Chinese laws and CAS policies governing scientific activities.
Your visits must be conducted in a single trip (not split into two or multiple separate trips). The visits shall last from 1 to 6 months (in monthly increments) and must be concluded by June 30, 2026.
Application
l Application process:
Student Application → Chinese Cooperative Supervisor Review → CIB Evaluation and Report → CAS Bureau of International Cooperation Approval.
l Deadline
Applicants must submit the following required materials via their Chinese collaborative supervisor to the Education Office of our institute by September 20, 2025 (electronic submissions only; no paper materials required). For detailed information about the specific procedures for submitting materials to the CIB, Chinese cooperative supervisors should communicate with the contact person (Refer to the Contact Information below).
l Required Materials for international visiting students :
1. CAS International Visiting Student Application Form (Annex 1, with original signatures or clear e-signatures)
2. Recent passport-sized photo (bareheaded)
3. The scanned copy of the applicant passport's identity information page
4. Collaborative Research proposal (English)
5. Personal Resume (English)
6. One recommendation letter from a foreign professor (including master’s supervisor, doctoral supervisor, or Principal Investigator (PI) of the research group at the current workplace).
l Additional Requirement:
The Chinese cooperative supervisor is required to submit one copy of the Recommendation Letter for Chinese Collaborator (in Chinese) to the Division of Education of our institute.
