Chengdu Institute of Biology (CIB), the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), was founded in 1958, and was chosen in 1999 as one of the experimental institutes for implementing the Knowledge Innovation Programme of the CAS, which aims at promoting the innovative capacity of its affiliated research institutes through key input in human resources and research funds. Now, CIB has a staff of 316 people, including 1 academician and more than 100 senior researchers.
CIB offers 4 Ph.D. programmes in botany, zoology, environmental science and medical chemistry, and 7 master degree programmes in botany, zoology, microbiology ecology, environmental science, environmental engineering and medical chemistry. While, there are more than 50 senior researchers as supervisors including 30 doctoral supervisors in fostering and training talented people in the field of biology.
At present, with more than 90 students enrolling annually, over 250 students are now pursuing their studies in different programmes in CIB and more than 500 students have received their degrees from CIB, who are now dedicating themselves to the advancement of world civilization and development of human kind.
